These are my first yellow raspberries from canes planted last year, they are large, about the size of a cherry tomato. We have had several pickings of earlier red raspberries but the yellow ones have always had a special place in my heart. When we were children we lived next door to an elderly spinster who let us run riot in her garden. She had a large bed of yellow raspberries from which we were free to pick as many raspberries as we could stuff ourselves with. She was a sweet old lady and used to invite us in for lemonade and cake. I remember that her sitting room had a door in the corner that led to an enclosed staircase to reach the second floor, not that we ever went up. It was rumoured that at one time she had been the mistress of the owner of the large house further down the hill and that he had built her house for her but I guess the truth went with her to her grave.
I have also picked about 4lbs of runner beans today, we are a little overwhelmed with beans of various varieties at the moment.
