A little weaving, a little stitching

Quarry piece

I am working on three different pieces at the moment, firstly the small 5x5" pieces which I think I have shown before, no new photos, and secondly a stitched piece using a mix of new and vintage textiles that are dyed using plant material.. These are my evening variations. I was none to pleased when I discovered moth in my woollen cloth but then decided to take advantage of it. The photos are against glass so you can see the holes but none of the images have turned out that well.
My third piece, daytime weaving, is for the Quarry exhibition in June, progress is slow and a bit haphazard but beginning to go the way I want now.
We have a bitterly cold wind blowing at present but the sun is shining and I have actually managed to do some gardening pruning two climbing roses that had got completely out of hand, one is going as it is very diseased and the other now has a new support so hopefully will be a little more controllable.
I plan quite a few changes again this summer.

  1. Cannot even begin to imagine the skill and artistry in your Quarry Piece ; amazing work and the design reminds me of stepping stones or even in a more abstract way, The Giant's Causeway in Ireland. The blues and rust colors in Moth Holes and Memories could not be more fitting to evoke time passages.

  4. Sorry, having trouble commenting. Also wanted to say it's beautiful, and that I also really love Moth Holes and Memories. Stitched pieces like this remind me of Deborah wo blogged under "While I Was Waiting". I followed her faithfully, then she dropped out of sight. Do you know her work?

    1. Hi Barbara, sorry you are having trouble commenting, my internet went down, I don't know her work, sounds interesting. The Quarry piece isn't that complicated, its basically rectangles each woven seperately within the whole piece and then joined together every so often by the grey. Its getting the overall piece looking right that takes a bit of thought especially as I don't do sketches.
