Four towers - rust dyed and stitched |
Two small 20 x 20cm pieces for an exhibition in April that North Somerset Arts is organising at Weston Quarry. All pieces have to be this size.

Two hearts - rust dyed and stitched |
And I am actually making small beginnings back to weaving, its been three months now since I last wove anything, this will be four long thin pieces based on the beach. I need to get myself going again now, quite a few exhibitions coming up this year.
love how you weave the beach
ReplyDeleteThanks Mo
DeleteThose rust pieces are so intricate! I love the different patterns on them. I must experiment with more than just tin cans! Glad to see the weaving has drawn you back Debbie; look forward to seeing the finished work. Has it really been so long since you last weaved/woved(?)x
ReplyDeleteHi Jan yes it really has and as this was originally warped up for something else its really fine and is going to take an age.
DeleteThe heart rust piece is made up from several smaller pieces to get the design I wanted.
Your four towers first looked like paper dolls to me...all connected. I look forward to watching your weaving grow.
ReplyDeleteThere are now four strips all the same length so still very slow.
DeleteSo pleased to see you are weaving again, love your rust pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz, its slow about an inch a day but there are four lengths growing now.
DeleteI do keep putting it off still. See you next week.
Oh and I am changing the title of four towers to beach huts, saw a similar design on a mug today of beach huts.
DeleteDyed with rust and stitched added beauty to the piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks Terriea
DeleteBesutyful! And curious how the weaving will go
ReplyDeleteLove
Thanks Yvetter
DeleteLove to see it all!
ReplyDeleteI've done some rust dyeing, and always love the wildly-hilly outcome. However, I've never managed to manipulate my rust in order to achieve a desired pattern. If you have any pointers, I'm all ears!
ReplyDeleteThanks, this is a bit of a cheat really, I was lent a rusty heart and an arrow shaped rusty piece to start off with which helped. The border on the heart piece was pure luck and cut out from other pieces. You can sort of manipulate them if you have specific shaped rust pieces to start off with but a lot of it is just pot luck.
ReplyDeleteI never tried to cut and combine pieces. I'll have to see what I've got with that in mind!
ReplyDeleteI do it quite a lot, I hate wasting even small pieces which i combine and use for cards.
