Update of West Country Quilt and Textile Show

Exhausting first day at the festival, lots of very positive comments and the offer of a gallery space to take the exhibition forward.

  2. The colors and textures of your work Debbie evoke landscapes that transcend time and place; Africa is like that with its many landscapes. I'm especially taken with the first photo, the naturally dyed cloth with its earthy colors and the story telling aspects of the symbols; I feel as if I am looking at an ancient hill, telling me to look deeper, get inside the striations of rock, sand, clay and feel the essence of this great continent. Your weavings add a textural quality to this unfolding story. Magic of many landscapes is so strongly felt in the dark cloth with cowrie shells and bits of African cloth, magic that speaks of the diversity of this great continent. Wonderful exhibit.
