My garden

My garden is the bane of my life but also a place of solace and joy.

  1. We are not really gardeners and right now with all the rapid spring growth, our garden is more bane than pleasure! But the gardens of others, of those who like all the hard work, are a joy.

  2. Gardens do require hard work but looking at your flowers here Debbie, so rich in color and velvety texture is to see Joy indeed. What mysteries are held in dark central depths in the flower in your fist photo. What glorious scent must come forth from your luscious rose...

I especially thank you for sharing these photos as flowers in my garden are rare. With extreme drought conditions here in New Mexico, water is precious so we mainly grow vegetables and herbs in our garden. Sunflowers do pop up year after year thanks to birds dropping seeds on the ground in their frenzy to dine on our sunflowers! I do like to have zinnias for their many colors but this year, something in the ground or squirrels or birds ate all of our seedlings SO I will have to get my flower fix by enjoying the blooms in your garden and hope that you will post more photos.

    1. Ah yes the beauty but we also have many pernicious weeds which are impossible to get rid of and are gradually taking over. It must be hard to grow in the conditions that you have, I garden on sand which I would imagine is similar to your soil conditions, two months without rain this year meant the loss of many plants and the garden is now just beginning to recover again. The quinces I posted more recently have loved the hot dry weather.
