LOOK, look, look
So exciting I have managed to upload some photos, lets hope it is a repeatable experience.
We took a short trip to Marrakesh, skeins of wool dyed with natural colours hanging up in the souk.
I discovered a new yarn while I was there, cactus silk which is made from the Aloe Vera plant, what a useful plant it is. Its has a very lustrous finish and weaves up beautifully. Apparently Morocco is one of the few countries that produces it. Seems to me it ought to be more widely produced it doesn't seem to have any drawbacks, doesn't need fertilisers or pesticides and regrows really fast.

Scratched
I have scratches up both arms from pruning the dead branches out from my elderly venerable lavender bush. I tend to have a slight love hate relationship with the plants in my garden. Some grow so well I have to keep digging them up and dividing them and some have to be carefully nurtured. I have just bought a woad plant and discovered it is a brassica which doesn't bode well as they don't tend to grow very well here.
But where would be be without our beloved plants, Grace today paid homage to textiles, I am paying homage to the plants we make our textiles and dyes from, we would have a sadly diminished range of textiles without them.
Still no pictures, I have found them all, but they don't want to be here yet, I will persevere.

Strode Theatre exhibition
Here are pictures from the exhibition at Strode Theatre, Street - hung today.
A bit difficult to photo as they are quite high, well out of reach of customers in the foyer area with drinks. Street is very close to Glastonbury if any of you are down that way.

Rather an odd piece
Sometimes I wonder where I get the ideas for my work, some pieces are just in my head and want to come out, like this one. I haven't done anything like this before but I did enjoy turning the finished weaving into something different than a flat surface. Its for the exhibition at Strode Theatre which opens next week. It contains herbs and has little bells attached.

20/20 exhibition
On Wednesday evening I went to the opening of North Somerset Arts 20/20 exhibition, all work had to be 20 x 20cms. A very successful evening, loads of visitors and the exhibition looked great, a brilliant concept and I hope they will repeat it. You can see from my photos how it was laid out and also there are close ups of my pieces. I will be visiting again when its quieter so may get some images of the rest of the exhibition.
