Onion skin dyeing

These were all dyed in the same pot with brown onion skins, the top photo is a more accurate colour. The linen was disappointing.
Wool, silk, linen and nettle

I will be using some of these in the pieces for the quarry exhibition.
Its North Somerset Arts Week this year and the brochures have just been delivered

  1. Yes : union skin dye ;-) Love that colour !!!
(it might be you need an other mordant for linen .....
and I would have thought the silk would do better
    than that)

    1. Yes the silk is paler than I would expect but luckily right for what I needed. I don't really use mordants only soy milk to add protein to plant fibres, so I guess I won't achieve really deep colours.

  2. Isn't it amazing how differently things absorb color?! I think they all look great actually.
